LIVESTOCK INDUSTRY IN KOREA

The remarkable development of korean livestock industry has parallelled the growth
of korean economy, having brought about a sharply rising consumption of livestock
products.

Since a new era of trade liberalization had been entered in the second half of
1990's, korean livestock industry had ever experienced severe difficulties .

With overcoming such difficulties through the structural adjustment during last
decade, the livestock industry has become the most dynamic sector and has played
a locomotive role for the development of korean agriculture.

The production in value of livestock industry has increased from 7,732mil. US
Dollars in 1995 to 11,489mil. US Dollars in 2005, which overwhelmed that of rice
industry.
