The compound feed industry has shown a remarkable growth in the aspects of both size and quality along with the development of korean livestock industry. However, the growth rate of the feed production has recently slowed down since the trade liberalization of korean livestock products market.
Total compound feed production increased from 3,462thou,M/T in 1980, and 14,932thou.M/T in 2000 to 16,148thou.M/T in 2008. As for the feed production by kind, the swine feed took up the largest share followed by poultry feed, and beef cattle feed.
In Korea, there are 94 feed mills in nation wide - 61 mills of the Association members, 33 mills of the Cooperatives and others, of which over 60% in the term of production capacity are located in the area of Incheon City, Gyeonggi-Do, Chungnam-Do, Jeonbuk-Do
